A Bedroom Unlike OthersHey Everybody. Ok, here's an update on what I have been up to here over the past couple of weeks in Ecuador. After leaving Quito I swapped the busy streets and flashing lights of 'La Mariscal' for the laid back town of Puerto Quito. Although don't let the name fool you, this place could be nothing less like the capital.

Neasa, Rose and Annmarie in Vietnam!

The experience has been very rewarding but also challenging at times. As we were told during the interview and the predeparture workshop, your role as a volunteer can be quite unclear at first and it may seem that you don't have a role, however, we tried to focus on the children and contribute in any way we could.

Guess Who`s Back

Okay, I admit it; This post is SHAMEFULLY late. I do apologise, but  A) I`ve been having far to much fun to even consider sitting still in front of a computer, and B) I`ve been trying to avoid English as much as possible!

Hong Kong Bound by Lara Ni Dhalaigh

Let me introduce myself... I’m Laura, 17 years of age, living in Fermoy but going to school in Coláiste An Phiarsaigh. I’m one of the twelve lucky young people who’ll be representing Ireland in a Youth Exchange to Hong Kong come the 10th of August. The beginning of my journey to Hong Kong began where all great things do... On Facebook!

Hallo Deutschland !!

On the 1st of August I will be embarking on a journey to Dessau in Germany as an Irish Ambassador for Eurocamp 2010. In this small town I will be living, working and integrating with 80 other European young people for 3 weeks.

When I first read about this EIL opportunity I saw it as an opportunity of a lifetime. I am looking forward to experiencing a range of different cultures and views on the modern EU. Of course, an improvement on my German language skills would be an added bonus!

Japanese School! And such.

Nah. It can't be. It has NOT been over a week since I last posted! Because if that were true (which would be ABSURD), that'd mean that I'm over halfway through my trip! Which means I'm getting deported in under 3 weeks! :-O

South Africa : Chicken feet for dinner?! Kayamandi so far..!

Once I had got to the volunteer hostel in Cape Town I met lots of other volunteers, and ofcourse the generic volunteer conversation was had, this little almost interview like chat is generally to break the ice and to find out the core details. It goes along the lines of your name, where your from, how long you are here from and then; what project you are working on. Generally, I managed to get by the first 3 parts with no problems, I can say that most of the time, I succesfully managed to tell people my name, nationality and length of stay with absolutely no problems!
