EIL Intercultural Learning

Hey everyone! I'm here 7 weeks in Germany now and have only 4 days left. I have so much more confidence now than I had before I came. I am much more comfortable with speaking the german language now. I have learned so much here that I couldn't possibly have learned in my 3 years for the Junior Certificate. It's just very different than learning it in a classroom, because you are hearing and speaking german constantly everyday. Also, there are words and phrases I have learned here that I wouldn't have at home! I practise the accent sometimes, but I find that quite difficult as they don't use their tongue so much when speaking! Tomorrow is my last day in school. I have enjoyed school so much and have made friends for life here. I will come back to Germany again for sure!! My host family have organised a small leaving party on Friday evening for me with a few of my friends. Hopefully the weather will stay good as we're grilling outside! My host family have been so helpful to me during the past weeks and have made me feel very welcome and at home. My host sister Nina treats me just like a real sister. She will always be like a sister to me!  I will miss Germany a lot, but of course I am also looking forward to going home and seeing all my family and friends!! I have made so many memories here. Sometimes I felt homesick, but I knew that this trip would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me! Maybe I will decide to study german in college. Even if I decide not, this trip has opened a whole new world of opportunities for me in the future. This is my last blog before I leave for Ireland. My departure flight is on Saturday morning from Cgn/Bonn Flughaven (Cologne/Bonn airport). I will put up some of the many photos I have taken in a few days! Keep looking Bis sehr bald!
