the lion, the witch and the war gun

Hi everyone

Welcome to this weeks blog!

Well this week has been nice this weekend I spent with Barry an Irish volunteer.  We were taken on a tour of Ibadan. We went to bowers tour which is the highest point in Ibadan and then to university of Ibadan zoo, so it has been a very tourist feeling week. At bowers tower our guide explained every part of the city and how old it was. He showed me my home in Akobo and the SYTO office in Dugbe. When we got to the zoo it was time to feed the lions with live goats. This was something I really wanted to see however actually seeing it was very upsetting the goat tries to run around this little pen to escape however in a matter of second the lion was on it and killing it., poor goat just sounded so distressed not to nice of an experience. We also got to go swimming in a swimming pool I thought look really nice until a big rat ran past me. Then to make things even less pleasant a very ill mannered you woman came to swim and was complaining to the life guard about Oyinbo’s(white people) being allowed in the pool this was the first unpleasant comment I received in Nigeria so far. It made swimming a very unpleasant experience something I don’t wish to try again in Nigeria.

However Chiprom has being really good this week Eva and I have being planning a summer camp for the children as they start their summer holidays next week. It’s   all very exciting and we have planned a lot of fun games and outings. I have also taught the children some games and song this week and one boy told me I was more fun than Eva, which is quite the complement as Eva is very fun .Ha ha. My host family and the staff at Chiprom have been great telling me the real prices of thing such as fruit in the market not the Oyinbo’s price which is double the local price. I have also begun to like wearing flip flops as every were you walk in Nigeria at the moment is full of mud as it is rainy season here now. I have also grown used to seeing the police force holding at pointing their big AK-47 war guns at passing motorists   I never thought I would get used to that. Also I am also getting to like some Nigerian food so it seems I am starting to really feel at home in Nigeria now if Allie was only here with me I would be really happy. I still miss Fresh milk!!   Thanks for reading bye
