What Can I Do?
Here are some things that you can do to play your part in raising awareness of HIV & AIDS:

~ Wear a red ribbon as a symbol of solidarity with those living with HIV and AIDS or ask your company to put one on its website.

~ Write a letter or send an email in support of campaigns such as the World AIDS Campaign (www.worldaidscampaign.info) or UNICEF Ireland (www.unicef.ie/campaigns.htm).

~ Inform yourself and others- check out websites like www.avert.org or sign up for email updates on www.healthdev.org. Pass this information on to friends and colleagues.

~ Lobby drugs manufacturers to make medication freely or cheaply available to the developing world.

~ Write a letter against intellectual property laws that enable companies to have a monopoly on producing AIDS drugs that keeps the prices too high.

~ Plan an event or fundraise on World AIDS Day, December 1.

~ Organise for a Global Awareness volunteer to come to your community/youth group/school/workplace to talk about their experience.

~ Volunteer at home or abroad- see www.hivireland.ie or contact EIL about our programmes.
