What Is the Global Awareness Programme?
A growing number of EIL’s participants travel to developing countries through the Volunteer Abroad programme and are exposed to the reality of poverty and inequality. EIL has witnessed an increased interest among returned volunteers in HIV and AIDS issues and the Global Awareness Programme was established as a result.

Now in its third year, the Global Awareness Programme is a training, volunteering and awareness raising project. Each year, the four people chosen are given training on HIV & AIDS issues in Ireland, volunteer for 8 weeks in a key HIV & AIDS organisation in South Africa or Nigeria and then plan and implement an awareness raising campaign around HIV & AIDS on their return to Ireland.
