What we do

EIL Development Education Programme activities focus on:

  • Engaging and empowering participants in EIL volunteer and exchange programmes overseas to act as global awareness multipliers in their communities in Ireland.
  • Raising awareness and increasing understanding of gender and human rights issues through public actions and events.
  • Highlighting HIV&AIDS issues through the participants of the unique Global Awareness Programme.

The Development Education Programme is managed by a committee formed by the Development Education coordinator and a core group of previous participants with a particular interest in development education.

The committee ensures that the programme is owned by and relevant to EIL members. The Development Education Management Committee takes a direct role in identifying key priority areas, objectives and activities for the implementation of the Development Education programme.

Members participate in a diverse range of activities and contribute to increase public understanding of global issues throughout the year.
