22 Dec 2012 - 4:23pm

INTRODUCTION

Euroamp is a youth initiative sponsored in large part by the state of Saxony Anhalt. Every year, about seventy young people between the ages of 18 and 25 are invited to a town in Sachsen Anhalt for three weeks of community service, intercultural exchange and fun activities. In 2012, I was lucky enough to be one of the two Irish EuroCamp participants to be chosen by EIL Ireland.

Off to Eurocamp 2012!

27 Jul 2012 - 11:58pm

So tomorrow I am starting the first leg of my journey to Eurocamp, and getting a train to Dublin from my home town of Sligo, before getting a flight on Sunday to Berlin and onward by train to Zeitz where Eurocamp 2012 is going to be held.  Having read the information available on the Eurocamp website, and through receiving various emails from the organisers, I am now looking forward to what promises to be an unforgettable three weeks in Germany among people from various countries across Europe.

Eurocamp Naumburg 2011

9 Oct 2011 - 5:58pm

Eurocamp. If like me, you have no idea what this is, then you are exactly where I was back in May when I applied for the award. To this day, I never expected to win it and I really did not have much time to mull over what was in store for me. Essentially, it was a three week opportunity to make friends from all over Europe, to explore East Germany and generally to become aquainted with the whole concept of being "European".

Hallo Deutschland !!

29 Jul 2010 - 9:54am

On the 1st of August I will be embarking on a journey to Dessau in Germany as an Irish Ambassador for Eurocamp 2010. In this small town I will be living, working and integrating with 80 other European young people for 3 weeks.

When I first read about this EIL opportunity I saw it as an opportunity of a lifetime. I am looking forward to experiencing a range of different cultures and views on the modern EU. Of course, an improvement on my German language skills would be an added bonus!
