MB Scambi Culturali Summer Camp
IntroductionThis programme has been specially designed for younger teenagers who would like to attend a residential course on the Adriatic near the beauful city of Venice. A combination of language courses and sports and leisure activities make this the ideal environment for learning Italian. This programme is also designed for Italian students learning English, creating a perfect attmosphere for the development of language and cultural exchange. The SchoolThe course consists of 20 lessons per week which take place in a modern classroom setting. Learning is activity based and emphasis is placed on the development of oral skills. There are a maximum of fifteen students per class. On arrival, the students take a placement test so that they can be placed in the appropriate class. The lessons are complimented with workshops and activities. SecurityEvery effort is made to ensure that the concerns of parents regarding the personal safety and supervision of their children are satisfied. The 60 hectares of private premises are fully enclosed and patrolled by professional security 24 hours a day. MB staff provides 24-hour supervision with a staff to student ratio of 1:7. In addition there is 24 hour healthcare on site. Lifeguards are on duty at all pools and on the beach. Activity ProgrammeThe centre has a team of experienced staff who run
the sports and activity programme. These are tailored towards the
needs of each age group and emphasis, as always, is placed on communication
in Italian.
There are workshops every afternoon after language class in activities
such as drama, jewellery making etc. SportsThe staff take advantage of the excellent sporting facilities that Villaggio Adriatice has to offer. These facilities include:

AccommodationAccomodation in Villaggio Adriatico is in ensuite bedrooms of 3 to 6 beds. Students are placed according to age, gender with a mixture of nationalities in each room. Students have three meals a day at the self service restaurant inside the village. Accademia Italiana
Salerno, the townRich in history and deep-rooted traditions, the town of Salerno is situated in the gulf of Salerno which also has as a neighbour the wonderful Amalfi coast. The nearest airport is Naples Capodichino which is located only 50km to the north and rapid connections at all hours of the day permit speedy transfer to Salerno. Its fortunate geograhical position allows one to enjoy a healthy mild climate and clear blue sea all year round. The symbol of the town, without a doubt is its wonderful seafront promenade and offers a place to relax amid ancient buildings, open-air cafes and restaurants. The SchoolThe Accademia Italiana school is situated in one of the most beautiful and visited streets in Salerno, via Rome, right in the heart of the historical centre of the town. The school itself is a charming antique building facing the seafront. The classes are made up of a maximum of 10 students, which allows for the creation of a group environment where it is possible for the teacher to keep a constant personal relationship with individual students. The method uses linguistic practise aided by modern text books, audio –visual and multimedia material. The ClassesGeneral courses in Italian Language run all year round with a programme divided into 6 levels, from absolute beginners to advanced level. The first day of the course, students who are non-beginners do a written and oral test to assess their ability and to decide which study group they will be placed in. Students from the age of 16 are accepted and the minimum period of attendance is 2 weeks. The student can choose between the following courses:
AccommodationAccomodation in Salerno is arranged by a special housing office which assigns each student to a specially selected local host family who receive a hospitality allowance. All accommodation is on a single room, half board basis and is in the centre and within walking distance from the school. NB. No special requests for siblings/friends to be placed together will be considered. For students 18+ the option to stay in a student apartment is available. Arrival and DepartureParticipants should arrange their arrival on the Sunday before the course starts and their departure the Saturday after the course finishes. Recreational ActivitiesDuring the week many cultural and recreational activities are organised, which are included in the cost of the language course. Students need only pay for entry to museums, cinemas or theatres, for public transport, guides and for evening meals in restaurants. Students receive full information about these activities on the first day in an Orientation meeting and during the Welcoming party. ExcursionsBeautiful places of interest for their history and landscape are numerous arpound Salerno and at all times of the year interesting excursions are presented by the school.
