| Network Weekend - November 2008 |
Save the date in your diary! The next Network weekend will take place in Dublin on April 18th/19th. This will be an extrordinary opportunity to come together, have fun and explore and take action on global issues.
As well as this, we will also interview and select the winners of the EIL Travel Awards 2009 to Japan, Ecuador, USA, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador as well as the winners of the Global Awareness Programme 2009 to South Africa and Nigeria.
The trips to Mexico and Argentina and The Global Awareness programme in particular are offered in support of the Make Poverty History Campaign and the 8 Millennium Development Goals. The selected participants going to Mexico will volunteer with a project in a rural indigenous community, while the participants going to Argentina will work in a project which provides for the educational needs of children living in a very poor area of Santa Fe.
The successful applicants for the Global Awareness Programme will assist with a HIV&AIDS awareness raising campaign and workshops in local schools and communities or will work in care centres for people living with HIV&AIDS.
On Saturday, members of the EIL Network, along with staff, will help to select the winners of the awards by taking part in interview panels.

Pre-departure workshop in Cork and Dublin

New volunteers will start their adventure overseas in the next few months. Before their departure they will participate in an interactive workshop which gives them the opportunity to meet with other volunteers as well as discuss some key global issues and practicalities before embarking on their volunteer programme.
The next date for these workshops are: Dublin, Saturday 28th of March.
