In the framework of the International Secondary School Programme, EIL is offering two students between the ages of 15 and 18 the opportunity to go on a fully funded scholarship to Germany during the Academic Year 2008 / 2009. This will entail living with a carefully selected German host family and attending a local German high school. We are offering 2 scholarships as follows
Scholarship 1: Short term: 2 month programme
Scholarship 2: Long term: Semester or Full Academic year programme
Why study in Germany?
In 2007, 180 students traveled with EIL to various countries on language programmes. To make our programmes more accessible and encourage students to consider the advantages of this type of education EIL is offering these scholarships to study in Germany during the academic year 2008/2009.
The requirements for receiving a scholarship are as follows:
We are asking teachers to nominate one student who you they think would be suitable for this award. This student should choose which scholarship they wish to apply for and complete the application form with an essay of 600 words. EIL will narrow down all entries to a short list of 3 students for each scholarship. These 3 students will be required to complete a more detailed application form and to attend a personal interview with EIL staff. The applications plus the notes from the 3 interviews will be forwarded to our sister office in Germany who will make the final selection.
Note: Normal cost of High School Programme to Germany varies between €2090 for a 2 month programme to €4350 for a full year programme. This scholarship includes full Insurance cover for the length of the programme plus a €120 contribution towards the cost of return flights.
EIL must receive all scholarship applications by April 30th 2008.
