Italian Summer Language Camp in Lignano
Our Italian summer language camp in Lignano, Italy is a programme that combines an Italian language course with sports and creative leisure activities in the fully equipped residential village for students. The camp itself is in a private area with parks and a beautiful beach situated close to Lignano, a lively modern city only 80 km from Venice. This is an international language camp open to students of both Italian and English. Teenagers in the camp integrate with a mixture of nationalities of similar ages, all there for the common goal of language learning. This programme can host approximately 50 students at any one time. It is a safe, fun environment for teens and young adults to meet new friends from all over the world, practice Italian and experience the beauty of coastal Italy.

The Italian language camp is run by professional Italian teachers and educational tourism coordinators with over 25 combined years of experience in language education.
Its young team of professionals have first-hand experience of learning a foreign language and studying or working abroad. The team is also responsive and flexible to students' individual needs. More than 15,000 students and professionals have completed courses with our Italian partners; in fact more than 30% of participants return again for further study.
Highly qualified native Italian teachers
All lessons are taught by highly qualified, native Italian teachers, while other staff members run the sports and leisure programme, so the teachers' attention is focused on the language course only.

The Italian summer camp boasts that over 40% of the students attending are native Italian speakers, which allows for the students learning Italian to practice the language with native students their own age.
Accommodation
The residential village
This international summer camp programme is hosted in a holiday village that hosts youth and family groups for sport camps and beach holidays. It has 1.2km of private beach, newly renovated lodging and excellent sports facilities .
Full board, residential accommodation
The camp can host up to 50 students at any one time. Students share ensuite bedrooms with 3 to 7 beds in them with students of the same gender, similar age and a mixture of nationalities . All bedrooms are in the same accommodation block, situated inside the village and are fully supervised.
Rooms, including ensuite bathrooms, are cleaned every day.
Bedding is provided and changed once a week.
One key is provided per room, which is left in the camp office. Students will have access to their rooms at set times during the day.
Please note that rooms do not come equipped with air conditioning. Italian summers are very hot, so some students bring or buy a small personal fan for their room for more comfort.
NB - There is a damage deposit of €50 to be paid in cash at the beginning of the students' stay. This will be refunded to the student upon departure, provided no damage has been caused.
Meals
Students receive 3 meals per day plus an afternoon snack. Meals consist of 3 courses (1) pasta or rice, (2) meat & vegetables (3) dessert or fruit. There is a choice of different items for each course. The meals are served at the self-service restaurant inside the village. Approximate meal times are:
Breakfast: 08:00 - 09:00
Lunch: 13:00 - 14:00
Dinner: 19:00 - 20:00
Teens (13-15) are given an afternoon snack. Young adults (16-20) do not have snacks included, but there are vending machines in the village should they wish to purchase extra snacks.
Courses
Italian language course
Students attend 20 lessons per week. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes . Lessons take place in a modern classroom with activity based learning to make learning Italian fun . Emphasis is placed on the development of oral communication skills . There is a maximum of 15 students per class.
Italian students attending the camp take English lessons while international students study Italian. All students attend the activities and excursions together.
The lesson timetable is: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 09:30 - 12:45.
Tailored tuition
On arrival, students take a short entry test so that they can be placed in classes according to their knowledge . Material is specifically targeted towards children and teenagers.

Activities are subject to change depending upon the age of the children and available facilities.

Students who enroll on the Young Adults Camp for 16-20 year olds have more flexibility in terms of activities. For example, from 14:00 to 19:00, Young Adults can choose between participating in an activity, free time or going to the beach or pool. Also, from 20:00 to 23:00, Young Adults have alternative activities more suitable for older students. At midnight, Young Adults must be in their rooms.

The beach is always available and the swimming pool with water slides is available 3 times a week without extra charge.
All activities take place in multinational groups and the leaders encourage students to communicate in the language they are studying.
Pro-Training camp lessons
Students that select one of these programmes will take part in activities on the regular programmeme, but also take tuition in soccer or tennis. Students must select their choice of sport at the time of enrolment. Each runs for a minimum duration of 1 week and comprises a set number of hours tuition per week in the chosen sport (shown below):

Answers
On which days do I arrive and depart?
Arrivals and departures are on Sundays only. Transfers are included from Venice airport between the hours 09:00 and 20:00. Outside these hours, additional fees will apply.
Can I go with a friend?
Yes, Summer Camps give students the opportunity to attend with a friend. If you would like to be accommodated together, please let us know at the time of booking. However, we recommend that students share with other international students as it allows for more integration and opportunity to meet more new friends.
What is the weather like in Lignano?
The temperature in Lignano varies between 25 and 35 C in the summer. Sometimes is gets cooler at night, but it rarely falls under 20 C. Sometimes it rains with quick thunderstorms, but they are short, last about 2 hours and the sun usually comes out shortly after. Italian summers can get quite hot and rooms are unfortuantely not air conditioned. Some students bring or buy a fan for their rooms, but they cannot be provided by the holiday village. Also, due to the hot and humid environment, there are many mosquitos. Students are required to bring adequate sun cream and bug repellant.
How does my child keep money safe?
Camp staff will put students' pocket money in a safety deposit box upon their arrival. Student can ask staff for money at designated times each day. Please note that the school is not a money-lending facility. All students must come bringing enough pocket money to last for the duration of their stay at the camp, or must bring along an ATM card that will work in Italy. Please speak with your bank to ensure your ATM card is valid.
Is laundry service provided?
There is laundry service in the camp village, but it is not included in the programme. Students can take their clothes to be washed once a week at a cost of €10 per load. Students do not need to put their name on clothes as staff with provide labeled bags. There are no ironing facilities.
What do I need to bring with me?
Students should bring the following: Swimming costume, swimming cap (compulsory in the pools), towel for the beach, towel for the bath/shower, casual and beach clothes, sunglasses and hats, suncream, Insect repellent (for mosquitoes), hairdryer (if needed), sports shoes and beach shoes, sports rackets/equipment (if students prefer their own, otherwise it will be provided), E111 European Medical Card. As mentioned, for those who find hot weather challenging, a personal fan for their room is a good idea as well. Remember to bring power adaptors for Italian wall sockets if bringing electronic items from home!
How do I contact my child while in Lignano?
There are pay phones in the residence which students can use to phone home. Students will be able to use personal mobile phones every evening from 19:00 until they go to bed. The use of mobile phones after official bed time is strictly forbidden.
Supervision
Supervised Italian language programme for students
We make every effort to ensure that we satisfy the concerns of parents regarding the personal safety and supervision of their children:
- The 60 hectares of private premises are fully enclosed and patrolled by professional security 24 hours per day.
- Camp staff provide 24 hour supervision (staff/student ratio of 1:7).
- There is 24 hour healthcare on site.
- Lifeguards are on duty at all pools and on the beach during the applicable hours.
- Medical insurance is included in the price.
Students are not allowed to leave the village unsupervised unless their parents send written consent prior to arrival. Where parents have authorised their child to leave the village alone, students will be expected to liaise with staff to keep them informed of their whereabouts and to agree on a time to be back in the village.
Students who do not adhere to the rules of the camp, who are disrespectful to staff, or who are a danger to themselves or other students may be dismissed from the programmeme. Should this occur, parents are required to repatriate their child within 24 hours at their own expense.
