Spanish language programmes

Learning Spanish is growing in popularity as a new generation of Irish youth become increasingly aware that we are living in a global economy where the ability to communicate is all important. There are good reasons why many students today are choosing Spanish as a second or even a third language. With some 400 million native Spanish speakers it is the 4th most commonly spoken language in the world (after English, Chinese, and Hindustani). It is the most common first language in the America's and Spanish speakers can also be found in much of The United States, The Philippines and even Africa.

EIL Study Abroad, in partnership with a number of carefully chosen Spanish partners, have put together a range of programmes which are specifically suited for Irish teenagers interested in Spanish. Suitable for complete beginners to advanced students preparing for their Leaving Certificate exam each programme uses the latest education techniques in a safe and supported environment to ensure the best results.

Secondary School Abroad

SECONDARY SCHOOL IN SPAIN

This programme offers participants the opportunity to become totally involved in the Spanish way of life and culture through living with a carefully selected host family while daily attending the local Spanish Secondary School. This option is open to students between 15 and 18 years of age and the programme length is for a minimum of 6 weeks up to a full academic year. The emphasis of this programme is on language learning through full immersion with native speakers. For this reason,  each Irish applicant is placed in a different host community. Focusing on gaining independence and maturity, friends will not be placed together or near one another. Irish students will have ample opportunity to make new friends in school and of course, practise their Spanish! Our host communities are located throughout Spain, mainly in small towns or rural areas. If you want a truly authentic Spanish experience and are open-minded to a placement anywhere in Spain, this programme is for you.
