My Irish Life by Amelie Robrecht

Amelie Robrecht participated in EIL's Secondary School Programme in Ireland in 2009/10 academic year for 26 weeks. She lived in Ballybunion,  Co. Kerry with her host family, The Ferriter Family, and attended St. Joseph's (Mercy) Secondary School. Here is an essay she wrote about her experiences here in Ireland:Amelie Robrecht of Germany with host sisters and a friend in Ballybunion, Co. Secondary Exchange Students outing to Cork

On Saturday the 10th of October 2009 The Tipperary EIL group had their First of many to come Group Outings. The day was bright and fresh as the International bus departed for Cobh to visit and explore the Cobh heritage centre. All aboard the Bus were in high spirits and excited to be together in a group as many of the students had not met since the official orientation. On arrival to the Heritage centre all students were full of anticipation and curiosity. Here all had the opportunity to explore and absorb some very interesting facts and parts of Irish History.

Anna Karras from the US volunteered form 8 weeks in an environmental project in Ireland

I had some expectations and the program exceeded all of them!  Leades House has a welcoming community of farmers, locals, and animals.  It is a very hands on place.  If you want to try something, Colin, the coordinator, will make sure you get a chance.  For example, I wanted to milk a cow, and I got to try on my first day!

Time to say Goodbye

Time to say Goodbye

My time at the EIL office in Cork is nearly over. As I was hoping at the beginning the time at EIL teached me lots of things. I wish I could turn back time!

Four weeks of Intercultural Experience teached me what motivated and purposeful people can change. Their work make a difference! So I am proud and deeply grateful that I could be part of EIL. In my opinion the mission of EIL deserves to be supported. Because EIL offers you the chance to see behind the curtain and to make changes.

Internship at EIL Office in Cork

Impressions of Ireland

I have been in Ireland for one week now. More precisely I am doing an internship at the “EIL Intercultural Learning” office of Ireland situated in Cork City in the south of Ireland for four weeks. It is the first time for me being in Ireland and it is amazing. But how time flies!
