Imagine the excitement of telling somebody who has never been on an aeroplane that their first flight will be to Japan, Ecuador or Mexico. Thanks to the EIL Travel Awards I have been able to do this a few times.

The are no cars or bicycles on the island - there are no roads. People move on foot or by donkey from the village at the top of the hill down to the harbour. Photo shows the main pathway on the island.

The only way to reach Isla de Viejo de Soyaltepec is by boat. Boats criss cross between the island and the mainland several times per day starting around 5am

Some children from Isla de Viejo de Soyaltepec in Mexico. Volunteers are needed to organise activities for the children and to teach them some basic English and computer skills.
