Four Countries one day!

Tomorrow I’ll be dividing my time between Dublin, Amsterdam, Panama and Quito; four countries in one day! My exams only finished on Thursday but I’ve done so much since then they seem like a distant memory, thankfully, and now with my mind clear I’ve been getting more and more excited about my trip.

I’ve pretty much got everything sorted now: the suitcase packed, travel documents in place and my currency ready so I’m feeling quite relaxed about the journey, hopefully no unforeseen difficulties will arise.

We had our Travel Award winner’s pre-departure workshop in Cork on Friday and although the 11 O’clock start for me really meant a 5 O’clock start (due to the 6 hour journey!) it was a really enjoyable and, more importantly, informative day. At the meeting we had the opportunity to meet the interesting and culturally diverse Eil staff members who invited us to consider our fears and expectations of the programme and then talked to us about how to deal with the issues that worried us. We also had the opportunity to meet past participants who were able to answer a great deal of questions about living and working abroad.  We also talked individually with our Mentors which for me was brilliant as I was able to see my day by day agenda and read about my host family. They seem really nice and I can’t wait to meet them!

Today I’m just going to go and buy some clichéd Irish gifts for my family (they love that stuff apparently), look over some Spanish and then get an early night. Ecuador is only one day away!
