I finally felt like an insider
"I finally felt like an insider during my stay. I was in a home with a family and I enjoyed the feeling of security that comes with being with a family. I also learned about Irish culture by talking to the family and their friends and neighbours. They clued you in on the ins and outs of life here and it was refreshing. I also felt better knowing I could ask as many questions about life here and know I wouldn't be judged or viewed as an annoying visitor but as a friend. My family had four children and they were all curious about my home and my family. I brought plenty of pictures to show them and I feel that I gave them a glimpse of the outside world by showing them another culture so to speak. We talked a great deal from the minute I got into the car until we were driving back to the bus stop.... I felt part of the family by the end of the weekend. The food was brilliant and my host mom and dad never seemed to run out of questions or ideas for conversation so I never felt awkward. I saw their ease and then I started to relax. I hope to go back and visit again. I am grateful for this experience and I will never forget it!"
