About Cap D’Ail

Cap d’Ail is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in outheastern France. It borders the district of La Colle in the Principality of Monaco.

Modern Cap d’Ail is a modern seaside resort with a lively shopping district on the Basse Corniche and quiet, fashionable residential quarters. Many people who work in Monaco live here. Plage la Mala is prized by many day trippers from Monaco and Nice.

About the school

AFS/EIL offers dynamic French courses for teenagers with cultural and sport activities to combine learning with entertaining.  This is a multinational summer camp, with students from all over the world encouraged to speak French at all times. The centre is based in Provence on the French Riviera, facing the Mediterranean Sea and is located alongside the village of Cap d’Ail, a small village of 5,000 inhabitants, just 2 km from Monaco and 15 km from Nice.

Between mid-June and the end of August, the centre accommodates a limited number of students, which allows special attention to be paid to each and every one of them. The programme favours intercultural exchanges between young people.

What Course do we offer?

We offer standard and intensive courses throughout the Summer. A programme of sports and recreational activities is held and coordinated by the staff as well.

The compulsory course are 3 hours daily from Monday to Friday, totaling 15 hours per week from Monday to Friday. All teachers are university graduates who specialise in teaching French as a foreign language. There are maximum 15 students per class.

A programme of sports and recreational activities is coordinated by a team of trained youth leaders who lived in the centre alongside the students. There are five half-days of organised sports activities each week, including team sports like tennis, swimming, volleyball, basketball and football. There is one organised excursion per 2-week session to Monaco, Nice, Cannes or similar well-known city. Evening activities may include films, debates, drama, concerts, games, theatre and table tennis.

Accomodation

The centre is located on an enclosed and secure 3 hectare camp and is guarded 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, so students can move around freely and safely. Students stay in shared room dormitories (3 to 5 beds) within the camp. Meals are at the self–service counter in the centre’s canteen. Youth leaders live alongside the students and help them to adjust and solve any problems they may have in adapting to life in the centre while conscientiously overseeing all their activities. Pocket money is kept safe and distributed to students 3 times a week. Laundry service is provided every week.

Arrivals and Departures

Students are responsible for organising their own flights and must arrive to Nice Airport on the Sunday before the course begins and depart on the Saturday after the last day of the classes.

Transfers to and from Nice Airport are included in the programme.  Students will be met in the arrivals hall and taken to their accommodation.

 

Activities

There is a wide range of social and cultural activities and excursions offered to help students get to know their classmates, as well as learn more about the local region and French culture. Some activities are free, while others are offered at an additional fee on a first-come, first-served basis. Joining activities is a great way for students to speak French and will supplement their daily French lessons.

Activities and Excursions

Lessons are held in the mornings, followed by a full programme of activities and excursions for the afternoons and weekends. Activities include a full range of things, from games and contests to cabarets and casinos, shows and thematic activities cultural outings around the Côte d’Azur (walks, museum),   Saturday day trip (Cannes, Saint- Tropez, Grasse ab dits perfumes, etc.), supervised sporting activities in Ca d’Ail and Monaco (e.g. catamaran, snorkelling, kayaking, tennis, swimming, etc.), evening activities (sports tournaments, cooking, arts and crafts, etc.), supervised “Monaco by Night”  visits, and shows at the amphitheatre.

Secure Supervision

This centre for kids and teenagers is located on an enclosed and secure 3 hectare camp, guarded 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.  Students can move around safely and freely. Teenagers who wish to go out alone until 7:00pm may only do so if they have signed authorisation from their parents or legal guardian before arrival, and even then only when given permission by camp staff.

Failure to submit all of the above with your initial application will delay the process and could result in losing your place on the course.  All student and parent signatures are needed to secure a booking
