Applying for the Volunteer Abroad programme is a straight forward process: after receiving your application and CV we will contact you to find out more about your interests and motivation for wanting to be a volunteer. We will confirm your availability for our pre-departure workshop and then send your information to our staff in the country of your choice and they organise your placement. The earlier you apply, the more time we have to find the most suitable project for you.

There are 3 steps to the application process

  • Step 1: Application form
  • Step 2: Interview
  • Step 3: Formal Acceptance within 10 days of consultation

We will then support you in terms of paperwork, visas, vaccinations and advice for flights as you prepare for your trip.

Please note that attendance at our pre-departure workshop in Ireland before you depart is mandatory.

The next workshopa will take place in Cork on Saturday 1st of April and in Dublin on the 22nd of April. The workshop starts on Saturday at 10.30am and finishes around 4.30pm, the venue will be confirmed at a later stage.

For more information about applying to volunteer with EIL please contact the team at 021 4551535.

In order to proceed with your application you will need to complete our application form

The earlier you apply the better your chances of getting your first choice of placement. Along with the application, you should enclose or email (where possible) the following:

  • 2 recent passport sized photographs
  • An up to date CV
  • A copy of your passport
  • A deposit of €350

Within 5 working days of receiving your completed application form we will contact you to arrange an informal telephone/face to face chat to discuss all aspects of your application, to explain the particular features of the volunteer programme and answer any remaining questions which you may have. This will be an opportunity for us to get to know you a little better and to make the best possible placement for you. Of course it is also an opportunity for you to find out more about us.

Within 10 working days of this chat we will formally confirm your acceptance or not on the programme. If you are not accepted, we will return your deposit. Prior to departure you will receive full details of your volunteer placement and accommodation, along with an orientation pack and resources for your chosen country.

So there is no time to loose. Start working on your application now and let the adventure begin. Remember to feel free to get in touch with us if you need assistance with the application process or if you need any more information.
