“Travelling to Vietnam on the EIL Explore Award has changed my life – for the better. I enjoyed teaching in a new country and I enjoyed the intercultural learning process involved with meeting new people but most of all I enjoyed rising to the challenges and using my initiative in a place where nobody knew me. And because of this I decided to do my absolute best to see what would happen. The more I gave, the more I got back. I left the country happier than I ever was before because the people I met were great.” – David, NUIG Explorer 2017

Types of Projects

There are a number of summer community classes that require assistance from English speakers to add value to the English classes in Hanoi. During the summer most schools are closed and volunteers can help in summer classes. Local Vietnamese volunteers generally get involve in the classes and provide support to international volunteers. Volunteers with previous experience in teaching and education are especially needed on these projects.

The accommodation is arranged in a volunteer house and you will sleep in a dormitory with other international volunteers. Three meals a day (local food) will be provided Monday to Sunday. The accommodation is simple and basic.
