The EIL Explore Study Abroad Scholarship Award gives young people an opportunity to experience secondary school in another country. Learning in a different educational and cultural setting can help you develop language skills, independence and confidence in everyday life.
Learn through school and community life
Attend classes, meet local students and adapt to a new school routine. Depending on the programme, a host-family stay can also help you discover everyday life and put your language skills into practice outside school.
Potential study abroad programmes
The award may offer more than one destination. The existing European school programme lasts approximately three months and takes place through a European language other than English. Its destination depends on places available in countries using the chosen language, and students are placed individually.
Plan the experience around your education
The European option may interest students entering Transition Year. Discuss timing and school requirements before applying. Other placements may have different durations, language requirements and schedules.
